About Apple

Apple, the American technology company founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak among others, is headquartered in Cupertino, California. It announced the Apple Watch on 9 September 2014, and the watch went on sale on 24 April 2015, after pre-orders opened on 10 April.

The first Apple Watch was offered in three collections: Apple Watch, with stainless steel cases; Apple Watch Sport, with anodised aluminium cases; and Apple Watch Edition, with 18-karat gold cases. It introduced the Digital Crown, a rotating control for scrolling and navigation. In September 2022 Apple added the Apple Watch Ultra, with a 49 mm titanium case.
