About Omega

Omega was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where he assembled pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. The company is now based in Biel/Bienne and is part of the Swatch Group.

Omega has been an official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932. In 1969 a Speedmaster Professional worn by Buzz Aldrin on Apollo 11 became the first watch worn on the Moon, and the model is known as the Moonwatch. Its other collections include the Seamaster and the Constellation.

In 1999 Omega introduced the Co-Axial escapement in series production with the Calibre 2500. Its movements are also certified to the Master Chronometer standard.
