About Hamilton

Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and made watches in the United States until 1969, when manufacturing moved to its Buren subsidiary in Switzerland. Its first pocket-watch line, the Broadway Limited, was marketed for railroad accuracy. In 1957 Hamilton introduced the Hamilton Electric 500, the first battery-powered electric wristwatch, whose Ventura case was designed by Richard Arbib.

The brand passed to the Swiss group SSIH in the 1970s and became part of the Swatch Group through the 1984 merger of SSIH and ASUAG. It is now based in Biel/Bienne. Its collections include Khaki Field watches, which draw on its American military watches, as well as the Ventura, Jazzmaster and American Classic lines. Hamilton watches have appeared in films including Interstellar and Oppenheimer.
