About Montblanc

Montblanc was founded in 1906 as a maker of writing instruments, by the Berlin engineer August Eberstein with financing from the Hamburg banker Alfred Nehemias. The company is based in Hamburg, and its flagship pen line is the Meisterstück. It has been part of the Richemont group since 1993.

Montblanc entered watchmaking in the 1990s, and in 1997 established Montblanc Montre S.A. in Le Locle, Switzerland. After Richemont acquired the movement maker Minerva of Villeret, Montblanc drew on Minerva's history in collections such as the 1858.
