About TAG Heuer

TAG Heuer traces its origins to 1860, when Edouard Heuer opened a watchmaking workshop in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, at the age of 20. In 1887 he patented an oscillating pinion for chronographs. In 1916 his son Charles-Auguste Heuer introduced the Mikrograph, a stopwatch accurate to 1/100 of a second.

In 1985 the investment company Techniques d'Avant Garde (TAG) bought a majority stake, and the company became TAG Heuer. The French group LVMH acquired it in 1999. TAG Heuer is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The Carrera chronograph, designed by Jack Heuer, Edouard's great-grandson, and named after a Mexican road race, was introduced in 1963. In March 1969 Heuer presented automatic versions of the Autavia and Carrera and the new Monaco, powered by the Calibre 11 automatic chronograph movement. Current collections include the Carrera, Monaco, Autavia, Aquaracer, Formula 1, Link and the Connected smartwatch, first announced in November 2015.
