It runs on the Seiko NH35A, an automatic movement with hacking seconds and a 41-hour power reserve, and is rated to 300 m. The case measures 40 mm, 41.5 mm across the 120-click unidirectional bezel, and takes a 22 mm strap. It came on an orange nylon NATO, and the caseback carries the Unimatic x WOAW conversion scale and the edition number.

The U1-B (edition of 200) and U1-BN (edition of 40) share its black dial and single-mark bezel; on the U1-DHK the orange lume and the engraved caseback set it apart.
